Princess Pelosi Chief Facilitator in Selling Off America to UN

For those of you not familiar with the UN [Useless Nazi's] Agenda 21, you had better start doing some homework on it very quickly. In short terms it means "collective rights trumping individual rights". Like the Liberals in Canada, taking away individual property rights, to doing away with the American Bill of Rights all together! Not only will you lose your individual rights and freedoms [what's left of them] you won't be allowed guns for protection or survival or have ANY say on what you can or can't do with your property! If the March 15 executive order, signed by Obama intended to make the all-encompassing United Nations Agenda 21 the law of the land, could be put into fairytale script, it would go something like this:
A long time ago while all were struggling through Life on Earth,  a cunning politician soon to be made infamous by the immortal words “we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it” as ObamaCare was being forced on an unwilling public, was working an evil plan through a doofus Congress.



The accepted fake image of the United Nations as a warm fuzzy blanket could now be used to smother all facets of freedom, and the deed could be done before most even knew it was happening.
The cunning politician who starred in in this true story is more responsible than any other living person for the smothering UN blanket known as Agenda 21.


“A long time ago” in this nightmare fairytale come true was August 5, 1992.  That’s the day when Nancy Pelosi (CA) introduced a concurrent resolution in Congress (H.Con. Res. 353), dictating that the United States of America should reform all domestic and foreign policy to adhere to the agreements, develop a national strategy to implement Agenda 21, and regularly report to the United Nations our progress on that path. “Undaunted by slow going in Congress, Nancy Pelosi returned to the house floor on March 29, 1993, and introduced a joint resolution (H.J. Res 166) to renew the call for the United States “to assume a strong leadership role in implementing…Agenda 21 and other Earth Summit agreements.”


Pelosi eventually gathered 67 co-sponsors for her bill, about half of whom are still collecting Congress pay checks to this very day.
Pelosi’s revolutionary resolutions were picked up by an incoming President Bill Clinton, who on June 14, 1993, with only six months in office, signed an executive order establishing the President’s Council on Sustainable Development (PCSD)—which would carry out the exact functions called for in Pelosi’s earlier resolutions.


Frick and Frack, once Pelosi and Clinton, is now Pelosi and Obama.
The transition could be seen in full view some 19 years later when on March 15, 2012, President Barack Obama issued an Executive Order creating the White House Council on Strong Cities, Strong Communities.  As venerable Internet writer Henry Lamb points out, “the next day, another controversial Executive Order, National Defense Resources Preparedness, vastly expanded the President’s power to control virtually all resources in times of emergency”.


With the worldwide creep of Agenda 21, it becomes easier to see that for all of his arrogant bravado, Barack Hussein Obama is just another cog in the big wheel when it comes to handing control of the USA over to the control-crazed UN.
In looking back on how America tragically began losing its very sovereignty, it becomes easy to understand why Pelosi wears a perpetual smirk as she antagonizespatriots trying to slow down and hopefully halt the promised Fundamental Transformation of America.


Major distractions have always had a big part to play in the Decline of America.
The history of how America was lost includes a president whose Monica Lewinsky antics took public attention away from what really mattered most and a smirking Nancy Pelosi, who after laying out the groundwork for Agenda 21, went on to become the most spite-driven House Leader of all time.


While Clinton’s impeachable distraction was Lewinsky, Obama’s distractions include bowing to America’s enemies, and running an administration from the luxury of holidays.
Before morphing into the blanket that began smothering life on earth as we know it, the United Nations traversed to the top of the power ladder via the astroturfed vision of being the world’s, innocent, warm, fuzzy blanket.


With all the cunning of the Marxist dialectic, the UN continues to hide its agenda behind long forgettable names like the International Council for Local Environment Initiatives (ICLEI) and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), like all UN derivatives as evil in intent as they are benign sounding.  Lost in all the politically correct rhetoric is the fact that ICLEI was created at the behest of the UN expressly for the purpose of advancing Agenda 21 around the world.
Older in intent than even Pelosi, since 1995 these two organizations have been working ‘round the clock to force Agenda 21 on the masses by converting it into irrepealable binding international law.


Tea Party leaders beware: propagandists pushing the claim that Agenda 21 is just a “conspiracy theory” advanced by right-wing crackpots (Henry Lamb, Canada Free Press, March 24, 2012), are lining themselves up as available speakers for Tea Party gatherings.
With all the lies masquerading as truth in an astroturfed world, it is sometimes difficult to recognize the Agenda 21 players for who they really are.


Few clarify them as aptly as anothervoice.com which states: “Very important to understand.  The United States has already been given over to the One World Government.  It is not coming, the USA is absolutely in it now.  Also very important to understand, whether it is palatable or not, no election or politicians will change anything.  Every politician is a facilitator, whether they understand or not.  No politician can ever operate outside of this system.  It matters not what level.  From city councils to mayors to governors to representatives to senators, all they will ever be able to do is implement “the decisions of the Council”.  (The White House Council on Strong Cities, Strong Communities issued as Obama’s March 15 Executive Order).


While it sounds as if society has been contained like house flies in a tightly capped bottle, and even with 600 of the 1,200 cities around the world having already joined ICLEI for their assistance in implementing “sustainable development”, it is not too late for citizen-member groups who are fighting final implementation of Agenda 21.


These include Freedom21, Freedom Advocates in California, the American Policy Center, Tea Parties, 9/12 and property rights groups, among others.
These groups recognize politicians as the facilitators of Agenda 21.
There can be little doubt that more would fight the implementation of Agenda 21 if only they knew about it.


Both recognizing and identifying Agenda 21 ‘facilitators’ is crucial before it passes from its current testing the water stage to its subsequent legally-binding treaty.
Meanwhile if Agenda 21 could be represented in a folk song, it would be called This Land is Their Land.

Is the Government Going to Crash the Stock Market?

Trying to figure out where this president, a communist posing as a socialist is taking this country is becoming more clear after every campaign speech! He is following the direction of a scumbag called Saul Alinsky, page by page! 

• First- command the mainstream media, CBS, ABC, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, PBS and Bloomberg are already his left wing campaign broadcasters!

Is the Government Going to Crash the Stock Market?

OK all you conspiracy theorists… dust off your aluminum foil hats and get out your J.D. Salinger novels. The government is going to push stock prices lower. The U.S. Treasury is going to be auctioning off another series of 30-year bonds on February 9. If this auction goes off like the last three have, stock prices are in for a rough time. Stocks sold off ahead of each of the three previous 30-year U.S. Treasury bond auctions. Now normally, I'm not a big believer in the government manipulation of stock prices. It probably does happen – just not to the extent that most of the folks in the "ham-radio" community think it does. But let's face it… The government needs investors to buy its bonds to help keep interest rates low. And what better way to encourage demand in bonds than to orchestrate a stock market selloff just ahead of a bond auction? Think about this… The government auctioned off $13 billion in 30-year bonds on November 10. The S&P 500 peaked above 1,280 just 10 days prior… and then bottomed at 1,230 the day before the auction. In December, the S&P 500 hit 1,260 early in the month. Then it declined 4% in five trading days… bottoming at 1,210 on December 14 – the day the U.S. Treasury auctioned $16 billion in 30-year bonds. January's action was less obvious. As all conspiracy advocates know, it's just like the government to try to be less obvious. Stocks didn't decline much ahead of the January 12 auction of $13 billion in 30-year bonds. But the market did fall hard the morning of the auction. So there you have it… Three auctions… three stock market drops. Interest rates have been rising recently as folks have taken money out of Treasurys in favor of better returns in the stock market. But the Treasury needs to somehow motivate investors to bid for at least $13 billion in 30-year bonds on February 9. I can't think of a better way to coax investors back into the Treasury market than to have stocks fall hard in the early days of February. Normally, it would seem absurd to think the government is actively manipulating stock prices. But given all the shenanigans the Fed has pulled over the past three years – and given the stock market action just before the past three bond auctions – it's almost absurd not to consider the possibility. The market is already poised for at least a short-term pullback. Investor sentiment (a contrary indicator) is overwhelmingly bullish. Stocks are extended to the upside after rallying 5% already this month. And the Volatility Index (or "VIX") is on the verge of reversing higher. The upcoming Treasury bond auction is just one more reason – albeit a bit of a conspiracy theory – to be a little cautious with stocks here. Of course, once we get the February 9 auction out of the way, the stock market rally can continue. And we can get back to more important things… like looking for President Kennedy's real assassin.

It’s Time to Tax the Trillionaires, never mind the others!

Obama says that it’s time to tax the rich. I agree, but while he wants to limit the tax to millionaires and billionaires—I want to advance it to trillionaires.

Forget Warren Buffett and his secretary and the rest of the small timers, let’s look at where the real money is going—to the trillionaires. Who are the trillionaires? They’re the people who spent and spent until we ended up with a 15 trillion dollar deficit. Now it’s time to make them pay their fair share.

Politicians, public sector unions, crony capitalists and the rest of the rotten body politic that left us with a debt so big that it can’t be repaid without selling an entire state. It’s time to make the trillionaires pay.

How do we make them pay. Obama has complained that unless we raisetaxes on the rich, there will be no money for Medicare. That’s a fair point, so let’s tax the trillionaires to recoup the costs. And let’s make it a whopping progressive tax too.


Forget taxing their take home pay from their non-profits and their dues—we know that like Buffett and half the cabinet, they just won’t pay. Let’s tax the taxman instead. Since the money that should have kept SocialSecurity solvent was spent by the trillionaires, it should be taken out of their spending. Forget taxing income—it’s time to tax Federal spending.


Got a new bill that calls for spending 10 billion dollars to make pogo sticks in low income neighborhoods more energy efficient or 400 million dollars in foreign aid to terrorists or 1 million to rum factories in the Cayman Islands (because who the hell knows why)? No problem, just get ready to pay your fair share of the bill first toward the national debt and all other obligations.

And let’s do Sweden one better by making this a 90 percent tax.
Yes Barry, I know it’s hard, but it’s only fair—those who spend more should also have to pay more. It’s not class warfare, it’s simple math. And the simple math says that the only way to fix budget failures is by taking the money out of the budget. Sure we could hang around waiting for politicians to do the right thing, or we could tax their spending.


It makes no real sense to tax businesses and individuals in a tough economic climate, not when there’s less money for everyone—but in Washington D.C. the spending is still going strong which means they clearly have money to burn. Why burn it on habitats for owls and research projects to study how much television prison inmates can watch without going insane—when we can put it to better use by covering the government’s debts.


It’s simple math, we have to make those who spend more money pay their fair share. It’s up to the trillionaires in Washington D.C. and their allies around the country to start covering some of the losses. And since the definition of tax is fluid in this administration, call it a penalty or a slow repayment plan.


We can only spend so much time moving money around, using fake spending cuts to pay for separate programs, and then making fake cuts to those programs and claiming that spending cuts have been tripled, even as it’s the spending that has actually tripled. No more games, just a 90 percent tax on all Federal spending directed at the deficit and obligations on which the government has threatened to default.

Of course an extended repayment program will take time and even with a very progressive tax, the debt will still take years to pay off. But that just calls for the trillionaires to find creative solutions to pitch in. What about the Barney Frank Acapella Choir Sings Jingle Cats or Obama’s Inspiring Birthday Greetings (Only Slightly Plagiarized From the Works of Maya Angelou.) There’s plenty of ideas out there and most of them are bound to at least earn some money. And they’ll need to work hard because that tax also applies to the salaries of Federal employees in decision making positions.


There’s no question that we can’t go on this way, but the hole problem can’t be solved by trying to fill it with shovels. Federal spending dug the hole and adding more shovels by raising taxes will just make a bigger hole. The only way we can fill the hole is if we take away the shovels and start putting the dirt back. That means taxing the spenders, not the earners.
The problem isn’t that we don’t tax the rich enough, it’s that we don’t tax the super-rich enough. Taxing the millionaires and billionaires will never raise enough money because the deficit isn’t caused by low taxes, it’s caused by uncontrolled spending. The only tax that will work is a tax on spending.


Now a tax on spending is the only kind of tax in the world that the progressive party is not on board with—because it’s a tax on them, a tax on their capacity to spend, a tax on the source of their power. The Federal budget amounts to a giant pile of money gathered from all over and then handed out to cronies and supporters. It’s a spoils system and a spoiled system and the deficit of trillions testifies to that.


The pile of money is our target because it feeds directly into the deficit, it’s why seniors are worried and have good reason to be. What was once set up as a safety net has become a big heaping platter of pork served up to everyone with access to a congressman, a protest sign or a checkbook. The only way out of this mess is by getting hold of that pile of money and taking it out of the hands of the people spending it, and what better way to do that then by using the mechanism that allowed them to create that pile of money in the first place.

Taxing the taxmen has a certain quality of poetic justice to it, but also pragmatism. It cuts up the credit cards of the D.C. establishment, puts them on a budget and them lets them have fun passing all sorts of ridiculous spending bills—which no matter what is in the bill will go not to the endangered macaws of Alaska, the teacher’s unions of Minnesota or forty agencies with their own SWAT teams, but toward repaying the debts they all accrued.


Of course there will be angry protests and lobbyists, but unfortunately the tax on angry protests by people who are paid with tax money during their work hours and the tax on lobbying to spend tax money should let even them do their part to pay down the debt. It’s only fair.
The newspapers will editorialize and they are free to do that, so long as they are willing to pay the tax on anyone calling for deficit spending. It’s only fair that those who promote spending money should pay their share of the costs of their policies.


Eliminating loopholes like these will help pay down our debts and protect our seniors even quicker, that is why I urge congress to pass this bill. Pass this bill, I say. Our children need it. Our grand-children need it, and our politicians will be locked up in fancy rooms with all the coffee they can drink and free blackberries which will be hooked up to treadmills and the energy of their motion will be used to provide sustainable environmentally friendly power.


Delaying much longer is not an option. Every day that goes by another politician gives a speech and proposes more spending that further inflates the deficit. If we keep this up, no amount of Nancy Pelosi workout tapes and Harry Reid Halloween masks will cover the cost of the money they’re spending.


Sure we can take more from the small timers like Bill Gates and Warren Buffett who are eager to pay their share, so long as their share ends up coming out of the Federal budget, as it did with the Oracle of Crony Capitalism’s latest fantabulous investment. But why waste our time with mere billionaires, when the trillionaires are waiting?

How's that workin out for ya?  Are you better off now than you were 3 years ago? He didn't do it alone. He is surrounded by idiots and left wing Utopian ideologues.

CAGW Names Sec. Vilsack Porker of the Month 

(Washington, D.C.) - Today, Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) named Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack its August 2011 Porker of the Month for asserting that the Department of Agriculture’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as the Food Stamp Program, qualifies as economic stimulus drives economic growth.  In an interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on August 16, 2011, Sec. Vilsack called SNAP “an economic stimulus,” explaining that “every dollar of SNAP benefits generates $1.84 in the economy in terms of economic activity.”  Sec. Vilsack did not specify where he got such a precise estimate for the multiplier effects of SNAP, but it is likely that he was referring to Kenneth Hanson’s “The Food Assistance National Input-Output Multiplier (FANIOM) Model and Stimulus Effects of SNAP,” a study published in 2010 by the Department of Agriculture.
Sec. Vilsack’s claims ignited outrage from many members of the political news media and blogosphere, several of whom compared the remarks to Senate Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) July 2010 claim that unemployment insurance “creates jobs faster than almost any other initiative,” and to White House Press Secretary Jay Carney’s August 10, 2011 statement that extending unemployment benefits will create “up to a million” jobs. 
“We are entering a brave new world for economics,” said CAGW President Tom Schatz.  “If one takes the ludicrous analyses of prominent Democrats seriously, it is a shame that millions more Americans do not qualify for SNAP benefits.  Indeed, the best course of action going forward would be to extend SNAP to all Americans, even affluent ones with huge salaries.  That seems to be the administration’s pro-growth strategy.
“These statements reek of desperation,” added Schatz.  “The Obama administration is presiding over an abysmal economy, staggering under persistent 9 percent plus unemployment.  They have done nothing to help and plenty to make it worse.  If food stamps qualify as stimulus, then literally any government expenditure can be justified as such.  Sec. Vilsack’s comments are indicative of the mentality that nobody spends money more wisely than government, and that if only pesky taxpayers would get out of the way and let the government spend as it sees fit, America’s economy would be back on track.  At CAGW, we maintain that private citizens spend their own money most effectively, and that the best stimulus program is a leaner government,” Schatz concluded.

For attempting to convince taxpayers that the road to prosperity is paved with food stamps, CAGW names Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack its August Porker of the Month.

Democrat Senators Say They Will Refuse to Stop Spending

Despite any and all protestations from the American people—and just as they forced ObamaCare down our throats—Democrat Senators (each and every one of them) have declared they will NOT stop spending We-the-People’s money…period!  In fact, in a Wednesday letter sent to Speaker of the House John Boehner, all 53 Marxist-Democrat Senators said they will refuse to pass the House debt ceiling increase ($900 Billions) and spending reductions of about the same amount proposal, even before the revised effort (more spending cuts are now appropriately included in the first year) has been read.

Instead, they are demanding Sen. Harry Reid’s (and apparently also RINO Sen. Mitch McConnell’s) proposal be swallowed; a bill that demands the debt ceiling be raised by $2.7 Trillions!  Please note that the spending “cuts” referred to as in the proposal and neither visible nor itemized.  By the way, when was the last time a Marxist-Democrat cut out any spending at all?  And, yet, the CBO is said to favor the Marxist plan?  Only the Marxists claim the now wholly-owned Obama CBO is “non-partisan.”

With no additional doubts—whatsoever—Democrat Senators have now come out into the open and are shouting that they rule over us all, they have ended our Republic and that we’d better shut up and get used to taking anything they and their Emperor-and-usurper-in-Chief Obama decide to employ against us.  In other words, these beings have openly announced that they now own We-the-People “body and soul,” we can’t do anything about it and “if you want us to be benevolent slave masters, you’d better smile and say ‘Yes Massa’ when we speak and give you one of our new commandments!”

Marxist-Leninist Sen. Harry Reid and Sen. John McCain (with childish Lord of the Rings references) continue to blame the various TEA Parties—who now actually represent the majority of the American people—for not compromising with the aging totalitarian Senate.  These reprobates also quietly blame the TEA Parties for the increased political knowledge and savvy of the American people. 

It’s now much harder for the degenerates to pull the proverbial wool over our eyes.  After McCain’s comments on the Senate floor Wednesday, I think this majority wishes that he would return to “middle earth.”  This “Armageddon” is totally manufactured by our overseers.  As a country, we take in approximately $200Billions/month and can well afford to pay all of our debts and responsibilities.  The lies Obama & Co have been spewing about “no Social Security checks” and “no Medicare” (Obama and the Congressional Democrats have already stolen $500Billions from Medicare to pay for their “We now control your bodies” ObamaCare program) are only due to the fact that the Tyrant Obama can opt NOT to pay them if he so desires.  And, a recent poll suggests that at least 40% of polled Americans believe he would do it.  Even the majority of those who voted for Obama probably didn’t see this coming. 

Folks, we’re quickly approaching—actually being unmercifully pushed into by those we elected to office who now contend they are our “betters”—the time when we will have to actively and physically fight back at our oppressors or live in a police state that we allowed to take us over.  Chillingly, we’re almost there, and Congress and the dictator-in-chief are working on driving the final nails into our coffin.  Be both forewarned and as prepared as possible for yourselves and your families.  Unless we stop it, the deep darkness will continue to descend upon us…

What constitutes treason? Does this?

I don’t know about you, but I always thought that it was an act of treason to intentionally undermine the Constitution. I also thought that intentionally committing acts that economically cripple the country, thus rendering her incapable of defending herself or standing as a sovereign nation was also treason. And doing this at a time when the country is, rightfully or wrongfully, at war, thus, giving aid and comfort to our enemies, in my never humble opinion, leaves no doubt that this is treason.

Since the Democrats gained an unstoppable, lock-step majority in Washington, we have seen nearly a daily occurrence of unconstitutional legislation being passed by Congress and signed by the “president.” In the process, they took a deficit of some four-hundred billion dollars, and nearly quadrupled it in two years, by borrowing and “spending” like crack addicts, and leaving the American people, for generations to come, to foot the bill. I put quotation marks around the word spending, because much of what they did with our money was simply cash pay outs to fat-cat, neo-fascist Democrat bankers, brokers, corporations, and big, corrupt unions, ineptly disguised as “stimulus.”

We have also seen a rash of unconstitutional executive orders spewing from the White House, ostensibly giving the president power over everything from fishing in our oceans and rivers, to the lives of millions of Americans living in rural areas. In addition, totally unconstitutional executive branch agencies like the EPA have been let off the leash and set like snarling Rottweilers on the states and the people.

Lately, to add incredible insult to injury, senile, hate-filled Democrat senators have been out before the ever-willing cameras of the Ministry of Propaganda, aka, the “mainstream” media, calling those of us who want no more spending, no more taxes, and a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution, who by even their own polls are a significant majority, all sorts of hateful, outrageous names. Despicable behavior that degrades an already severely degraded office.

And as always, the lies just keep on coming.

This whole “crisis” is a fake, a set-up. For two-and-a-half years, the neo-fascist Democrats – and this includes every single one of them in the House, and especially in the Senate – have refused to put forth a budget, forcing the government to run on continuing resolutions. In addition, they have passed legislation like Obamacare that has already killed jobs and massively increased the size and cost of government.
The simple truth is that Democrat “spending” has created our financial problems. Period.

America functioned just fine up until 2008. We paid our bills, and took care of the vast majority of our citizens. We had no need for multi-trillion dollar hikes to our borrowing capacity. We are being lied to when neo-fascists like Harry Reid (D-NV) tell us we need to raise taxes, when clearly, what we need is to stop spending and cut government budgets. If Reid wants more taxes, maybe he should look at the 47 percent of Americans who pay no taxes at all, and at corporations like Big Democrat Donor, GE, who, in spite of billions in profits, pays no taxes, either.

The neo-fascist Democrats have made absolutely no good faith effort to come to a workable agreement that will not end up destroying the economy, and therefore, the country. They demand huge, damaging tax increases, and the only specific cuts they have named are equally huge ones, while we are involved in three separate wars, to our defense budget. They have no plan, except to follow the totalitarian strategy of Saul Alinsky, to destroy capitalism.

As for those of us still able to think for ourselves, we need to face a very difficult fact: America is on the very brink, just inches away from becoming a full-blown fascist country.

Our elected representatives, particularly in the Senate, no longer listen, much less pay attention, to We the People. Even liberal Democrats want the spending stopped and the deficit seriously and effectively dealt with. Not surprising, since during the hated Bush years, “cut the deficit” was the Democrat mantra. However, it obviously was just a ruse, as far as the neo-fascist Democrat politicians are concerned.

The economic “crisis” has been used to institutionalize the “public-private partnerships” and the government facilitation of select industries and corporate entities, e.g., “green” industries and unions, at the expense of everyone else, which is the classic definition of fascism. Combine it with the collaboration with the U.N. and Agenda 21 (http://www.freedom21.org/), and you have global, and thus, neo-, fascism. Can you say, “Germany and Italy, 1930s?”

Back in 1964, Barry Goldwater referred to the leftist infestation of government, saying “None dare call it treason.” Well, that’s exactly what I am calling it. If we make it to November, 2012, we REALLY need to clean house.

Who Controls the Price of Oil?

Most people do not understand what drives the price of oil but readily accept the explanation pushed by this administration that it is the unbounded greed of oil companies and their “fat cat owners.” Oil companies are publicly traded and many Americans and other foreign nationals or entities can own stock or bonds in these firms.

Most economists agree that the oil industry is an oligopoly, a market dominated by a few sellers, synonymous in developed countries with “big business.” An insidious form of oligopoly, which dominates the oil industry, is the cartel. The cartel’s firms join forces to control production, sale, and the price of oil.OPEC, the most notable and successful cartel, controls 44 percent of the world’s crude oil production and 79 percent of world’s crude oil reserves. By restricting output, its members, Algeria, Angola, Ecuador, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Venezuela, quadrupled the price of oil between 1973-1974 and 1979-1980.

OPEC should not be able to burden consumers to the same extent now because large oil reserves were discovered in Alaska, North Sea, Canada, and the Gulf of Mexico. However our business-killing EPA regulations and Obama’s seven-year moratorium on drilling in the Gulf do.
When oligopolists organize themselves in a successful cartel such as OPEC, prices will be higher and outputs lower. Cartels are illegal in the U.S. even though some companies such as railroad and gas pipeline transportation behave like cartels under regulations that prevent firms from undercutting prices. According to the Wall Street Journal, Exxon’s margin of profit for both oil and gas ranks #60. There are 59 more profitable industries than the oil industry. Oil and gas firms profit 8 cents per dollar of sales.Pharmaceuticals profit 20 cents and banks profit 18 cents per dollar of sales  According to the Report to Congress made in April 2008 called “Oil Industry and Profit Review,” the factors contributing to high gas prices were:

• world unrest
• increases in the price of crude oil that pushed the spot price of West Texas Intermediate (a key oil price in determining market prices)
• tight market conditions
• demand growth in China, India and other parts of the developing world
• political unrest in Nigeria, Venezuela, Iraq, Iran and other parts of the world
• the decline of the value of the U.S. dollar on world currency markets
• investment strategies of financial firms on the oil futures markets
• volatility of the world oil and financial markets

The refining segment of the market performed relatively poorly during the same period. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, there are 148 operable refineries in the U.S., down from 150 in 2009.  Only 137 refineries are actually operating, down from 141 in 2009. Eleven refineries are idle for various reasons. The atmospheric crude oil distilling capacity is 16,937,024 barrels per calendar day of actually operating refineries.


We have not built new refineries in the U.S. in the past 25 years. The last refinery built was in Garyville, Louisiana and it started in 1976. In the mid 1970s, a refinery construction was proposed in Portsmouth, Virginia. The company canceled the project in 1984 after a nine-year court battle with environmentalists. Even if we drilled more, we could not refine the excess supply of crude.
There are three reasons why oil refineries are not built:

• refineries are not particularly profitable
• environmentalists fight planning and construction every step of the way
• government red tape makes the task almost impossible

According to Investor’s Business Daily, the cost of building a new refinery is $2-$4 billion. Twenty billion dollars have to be dedicated over a ten-year period to reducing the sulphur content in gasoline.  Additionally, 800 different permits have to be collected. The long-term rate of return on capital is just 5 percent.


“I’m sure that at some point in the last 20 years someone has considered building a new refinery,” says James Halloran, an energy analyst with National City Corp. “But they quickly came to their senses.”


The current administration keeps pushing the euphemism “green energy” although there are no plans in the foreseeable future for such affordable energy. Any hybrid or electric car uses electricity generated with fossil fuels, including the maligned coal, which the president promised to put out of business. The electric Volt is only popular with the die-hard leftists since less than 500 were sold so far.


Today’s oil prices are twice as high as they were in 2008 and nine times as high as they were in 1998.  The price of oil also hinges on the perceived replacement cost of the next barrel of oil and nobody is quite sure what that price will be. 


 In Canada, it costs $40-$60 per barrel to extract the oil from the sands. It costs Chevron $15 per barrel to deep drill crude from the Gulf of Mexico. It is even cheaper in the Middle East. The political and physical risk of extracting the oil in war zones is even higher.


The volatility factor depends on the volatility of our economy. None of Obama’s economic stimulus has worked. In March, during intense fighting in Libya, he said that there was no supply shortage and rising oil prices was not a good reason to tap reserves. He changed his mind on June 23, when he released oil from our Strategic Petroleum Reserves under the excuse of turmoil in Libya. Again, it was a failed economic stimulus.


Christina Romer, former White House chief economic advisor, told a crowd recently that we are in a “growth-less recovery.” Only in a liberal fantasy world is a recovery without growth. The patient is flat-lined but somehow still alive.
Republicans and big business blame Obama’s drilling moratorium as a culprit in the oil price problem. Democrats blame “speculators” on the Chicago Board of Trade for soaring gas prices, particularly Goldman Sachs whose influential analysts move all markets.


The Commodity Futures Trading Commission is investigating manipulation when the price of natural gas dropped 8 percent in 14 seconds in after-hour trading on June 8. The commission charged two traders with swindling $50 million in profits by manipulating oil markets in 2008.
“They bought physical cargoes they did not need to artificially inflate prices while also buying derivatives so they would profit as the prices rose. They bought other derivatives that would pay off later when the prices fell – which they did after they sold the physical barrels, catching other traders off guard.”
Attempting to corner a piece of the market is illegal but can warp prices for a short period, resulting in higher prices for consumers.


Current world supply can also be an expression of consumption growth in China and India by more than half a million barrels of oil per day. There is a world spare capacity of 3-4 million of barrels of oil per day, which can shrink, with more consumption growth, thus resulting in higher prices.
Liberals believe that supplies should be rationed through deliberate higher prices in order to protect the planet from unnecessary pollution. They are not concerned that it would stifle economic growth. Their main concern is how it would affect the re-election of Obama. To prevent a re-election loss, Democrats want to release more strategic reserves into the market in order to keep the gas price lower at the pump and thus please the voters.
